How e-visa.ca uses cookies and similar technologies

This notice explains what cookies we place on your device, why they are important for the eTA application service, and how you can manage your preferences.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help us remember your preferences, keep your session secure, and understand how travellers use e-visa.ca. This policy explains the types of cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.

We also use similar technologies such as pixels, local storage, and tracking scripts. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as “cookies” throughout this notice.

Cookies we use

Cookies fall into several categories. Some are essential to deliver the eTA application service, while others help us improve performance or measure marketing campaigns. We only place optional cookies after you provide consent through our banner or settings.

Managing your preferences

When you first visit e-visa.ca, you can accept all cookies or adjust your choices through our consent banner. You may update your selection at any time by visiting the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Your preferences will apply to the browser and device you are using.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to delete, block, or limit cookies from specific websites. For detailed instructions, consult your browser’s help section or visit allaboutcookies.org.

Third-party cookies

We work with trusted partners that deliver analytics, payment processing, fraud prevention, and customer support tools. These providers may set cookies on our behalf to perform the services we contract them to deliver or to comply with their legal obligations.

We review vendors regularly to ensure they maintain strong privacy and security practices. Where required, we sign data processing agreements and limit the information they can access to the minimum necessary for their role.

Retention and expiry

Cookies have different lifespans. Session cookies expire when you close your browser, while persistent cookies stay on your device until they reach their set expiry date or you clear them manually. We set retention periods that align with their purpose and legal requirements.

For example, security cookies may remain active for up to one year to maintain fraud prevention controls, while analytics cookies typically expire within six months.

Keeping this notice up to date

We review our cookie policy whenever we introduce a new technology or partner. Significant changes will be communicated through the banner or by updating this page. Continuing to use e-visa.ca after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.

If you have questions about how we use cookies, reach out to our support team at support@e-visa.ca.

e-visa.ca operates as an independent, professional visa support agency helping travellers secure a Canada Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). We are not affiliated with the Canadian government, do not employ solicitors, and do not provide legal advice. You can submit an eTA application yourself for CAD $7 per traveller at the official Canadian government website, but our service includes round-the-clock assistance, pre-submission document checks, and personalised guidance. Our fees cover the government charge, applicable taxes, and a service fee for our expert review and submission. If an application we have reviewed is refused—and there has been no earlier Canada eTA refusal for the traveller—we refund the full amount of your purchase.
